Shane Seaman, Partner

Shane Seaman has a background in the maritime community and understands the corresponding legal issues. He was in the United States Coast Guard prior to attending law school at Gonzaga University, where he graduated cum laude. While in law school, Shane interned at a premier real property law firm, Delay, Curran, Thompson, Pontarolo & Walker, in Spokane, Washington. After moving to the Port Townsend area, Shane became the felony prosecutor for the Jefferson County Prosecutor’s Office. He has handled numerous jury trials, and has also argued before the Washington State Supreme Court. Shane’s current practice involves general litigation, real property, land use, landlord-tenant, insurance recovery, business, maritime and water law. He sits as Judge Pro Tem for Jefferson County District Court hearing trials, motions, and all other matters in that court. He currently serves on the boards of Clallam/Jefferson County Pro Bono Lawyers and OlyCAP. Shane is admitted to the Washington Bar as well as the Federal Court for the Western District of Washington.

Ted Knauss, Partner

Ted Knauss has practiced law for over 25 years; his experience includes a wide variety of legal specialties. Ted maintained an office in Stevens County, Washington for over 20 years. For a number of those years he had offices in both Stevens County and in Spokane. Ted is well experienced in municipal law, having been sought out and employed by the town Springdale, Washington as legal counsel during a particularly litigious time for the town and its officers. He successfully had a petition for recall denied, successfully defended the town in lawsuits over annexation (including succeeding on those appeals), successfully defended the mayor and members of the council against negligence claims, guided the town out of all its pending litigation, and then continued as town counsel for a number of years.

Ted has practiced law in Jefferson County since January of 2004. He is presently the attorney for the Port Ludlow Drainage District. Ted has over 20 years of experience practicing in the areas of real estate and land use. He has drafted numerous real estate documents, tried a number of real estate cases, and worked on a number of land use hearings and appeals. His present practice emphasizes estate planning, probate, insurance recovery and business law. Ted has worked with and counseled a number of businesses, as well as formed numerous corporations and limited liability companies. Ted also represents non-profit corporations.

Ted is licensed to practice in the Federal District Court and the United States Claims Court, as well as all Washington State courts. Ted has practiced in the Federal Bankruptcy courts, representing both creditors and debtors. He has served on a number of Washington State Bar Committees and Boards, having recently chaired the state bar association's Character and Fitness Board. He currently serves as the President of the Congregation for the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer.
